Kensington 62348 Contour Rolling Laptop Bag Review:
Pretty Useful bag, but can be Taxing on Back when used as a Briefcase.
Strengths:
- Feels very durable. Only 1 month in, but I feel like the bag will last me a while.
- Very comfortable. Whether Im using the bag as a roller, over-the-shoulder, or as a brief, it feels comfortable all around. And I definitely like having the flexibility of going between either of those modes.
- Large number of storage compartments for the all the little things including a compartment for carrying passport and boarding pass when traveling.
-Plenty of padding for the laptop compartment. I feel very safe having my 13 notebook wheeling around behind me.
- Sturdy handle that evenly distributes the weight of the bag across the palm of my hand. No more strenuous arch effect created by nylon handles.
- The contour on the side is actually pretty conducive to carrying the bag over my shoulder or as a briefcase. - Telescoping handle is a great feature of this bag. Easily comes out of its compartment and hides very well under its zipped cover.
Weaknesses:
- Kinda wide. I wish the bag could hold the same amount of items, but seem a bit slimmer.
- My bag came with bright blue wheels. I wish the wheels were a little more subtle. Something in black or a black and chrome mix wouldnt hurt.
- As wide as it is, however, it still feel like a tight fit for my laptops external power supply. Ive had to squeeze it into the documents compartment, but its just me being a bit picky.
- Padding on the shoulder pads could be a bit thicker. It would have been nice if Kensington had used a gel pad like the ones you find in the wristpads of some mousepads. That would have truly increased the comfort for anyone carrying the bag over-the-shoulder.
Summary:
Overall, I love this bag. Its my first rolling laptop bag. I was always a bit hesitant to purchase one because I felt like it made people look goofy. Now that I have one, I understand that I still run the risk of looking goofy, but my back thanks me every day that I no longer use my laptop backpack.
With the roller, it gives a very professional look as I walk into meetings and its very handy with all the travelling that I do. It easily fits into the overhead compartment of small and large planes alike, and all the compartments on the bag make it easy to access items I may need during the flight laptop, books, documents, pens, external hard drives, etc..
Please dont expect this bag to be your overnight bag as it most likely will not hold an extra dress shirt or a pair of shoes. It will however hold your toiletries, and maybe some grooming tools for a day trip.
I truly believe this bag will be an asset to any working professional concerned with ergonomics and durability.
